IS POLYETHYLENE MATERIAL HARMFUL TO HEALTH?
Polyethylene is a plastic material generally considered safe for health. From a health and safety perspective, because polyethylene generally has low reactivity, there is a low risk of harmful chemicals leaching into food or drink. Additionally, polyethylene is widely used in food and beverage packaging and is approved by the FDA (United States Food and Drug Administration).
However, in some cases the polyethylene materials used have potential health risks:
1. High Temperatures: Polyethylene may melt or chemically degrade when exposed to high temperatures (e.g. in a microwave oven or dishwasher, etc.). In this case, the risk may increase if chemicals passing through polyethylene come into contact with food or beverages.
2. Long-Term Exposure: In case of long-term contact or exposure, additives or degradation products, especially those contained in polyethylene, may cause health problems. However, under normal use conditions these risks are generally low.
3. Dioxins: In the polyethylene production process, pollutants such as dioxins may be released in some industrial processes. However, these contaminants are often untraceable in the end product of polyethylene.
As a result, under normal use conditions, polyethylene is generally considered safe for health and can be easily used in sectors such as children's playgrounds, urban furniture, livestock equipment, agriculture, water tanks, automotive and defense industries. However, caution is required at high temperatures or in cases of long-term exposure. If you are concerned about any adverse events, it is recommended that you consult a healthcare professional or relevant organizations.
